We would like to congratulate Dan Brown on winning this years 2018 Matt Trophy. Dan came second last year and has worked really hard throughtout the year to become this years winner. Well done Dan.
We would like to thank everybody who took part in the race, it was an amazing day. A special thank you to Dr Asif Raja for sponsoring the race and to everyone who helped in making this special day possible.
We would like to thank the TEYC for hosting and running, and Summercare for sponsoring, The Matt Trophy 2018. What a brilliant day - with 29 boats in the water and 6 safety boats. A huge thank you to everyone for all their hard work and for making this the best race so far.
We are sorry Dr Asif Raja could not make the race this year and would like to thank AYC previous commodore Andy Solkhon for presenting the trophies on his behalf.

This trophy was donated to the Alexandra Yacht Club in memory of our beautiful son Matthew.
This is the third year this race has been held. The race is an Open event for any cadet/junior or person under the age of 18 can take part. The trophy is to promote sailing for young people. The race will take place under the Alexandra Yacht Club rules.

As Matthew loved his sailing days we hope this trophy will encourage cadets/juniors and young people to race and for us to carry on raising awareness of the risks of anabolic steroids, so his life has not ended in vain. If we can give one person an informed choice then this will be a positive thing from such a devastating tragedy.
